How do our small valves stand out within the vast size of the world's water industry? Simply put, with a quality, customizable product coupled with over 30 years of experience. At Smart Products, we meet the demands of this industry with check/pressure relief valves that are precise, have a flexible design, and are reliable for long-term use in advanced applications. We work as partners to solve design problems and are able to customize our products to meet design requirements.
From aquarium filtration equipment to water quality sampling, we design and manufacture small and smart check valves. Our products provide low pressure, low flow control solutions for engineers designing applications to improve our overall standard of living within the health, food and beverage, recreation, and industrial arenas. This SmartTalk highlights a few examples of how our valves contribute to devices related to health and hygiene in the water industry.
Water treatment and access to clean drinking water is a critical worldwide health issue. Our check/pressure relief valves are especially popular to control the flow of ozone, which has become a more ideal solution for water purification systems versus chlorine because it doesn't create harmful by-products. Smart Products is able to meet industry demands by offering customizable check valves available in PVDF/Kynar. This plastic is our number one choice for applications dealing with ozone because it has an overall excellent corrosion and chemical resistance. For o-rings in contact with ozone, we typically recommend Viton® for its ability to withstand most acids and chemicals.
For applications simply running bottled or tap water, we would most likely recommend a valve in Polypropylene and an o-ring in Buna-N, both excellent and economical materials. We've seen devices use this check valve combination in removable water reservoirs for dental chairs or within the Earigator, a cerumen (ear wax) management system.
We also have valves in commercial dish washing, laundry, and other washing machines. In these devices, our valves are typically used to prevent back flow in the dispense lines. For a full list of typical applications in the water treatment industry, click here.
At Smart Products, our check/pressure relief valves are made to order to your specifications. We offer a wide variety of sizes and styles in 9+ plastic body materials, 7+ o-ring materials, and opening pressures ranging from 0.09 to 20 PSI.

Check Valves for 3/32" Sizes
If you're working with soft tubing at 3/32" size, we offer the Model #301. Pictured right, the #301 is a great in-between option compared the smaller 1/16" size or the larger 1/8" size.
Part of our Series 300, the #301 can be mixed and matched with other end fitting options. For example, you can connect 3/32" to 1/8" in this series or use the same end fitting (as pictured).
Specs for the #301 include plastic body materials in Polypropylene, Nylon, PVDF, Ultem®, and ABS. For o-rings, this model # is available in Buna-N, EPDM, Viton®, Silicone, Fluorosilicone, Aflas, and Kalrez®. Opening spring pressures range from 0.11 to 20 PSI.
