More about our New Facility in Henderson County, N.C.

As most of our customers know, Smart Products USA, Inc. has finished constructing a 30,000-square-foot  manufacturing facility in Mills River, Henderson County, N.C. In addition to job creation, the company has invested $3.2 million in the community, $1.5 million in construction, and $1.7 million in machinery and equipment.

The company uses injection molding technology and the highest quality assembly processes to produce check valves and pumps that are used in a variety of industry sectors including automotive, food and beverage, and medical. 

“Our company is committed to quality. Henderson County and the Town of Mills River have showcased the resources we need to continue producing our product and stay competitive in the industry,” stated company CEO Mark Jernigan.

During that same timeframe, companies such as Empire Distributors, Legacy Paddlesports, Raumedic AG, Country Malt Group, GF Linamar LLC, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, Demmel AG, Smart Products, Bold Rock Hard Cider and Norafin AG have announced location plans, in addition to existing industry expansion and consolidation growth by companies such as Elkamet, Blue Ridge Metals Corp, Cane Creek Cycling Components, Earthfare, American Quality Foods, City Bakery, Barry Callebaut, Gaia Herbs, Microtech Knives and The Warm Company.
Henderson County’s thriving manufacturing base is supported by The Made in Henderson County initiative, a coordinated effort established to enhance the connection between manufacturing businesses and the Henderson County Public School System, while telling the story of manufacturing, the products that are made here and the people who make them.  The effort to enhance connectivity between manufacturing businesses and the school system is focused on raising the visibility of manufacturing as a viable career path to ensure that Henderson County students have diverse employment opportunities in the community, and manufacturing businesses have access to skilled, local talent. Since 2012, nearly 4,000 students have participated in The Made in Henderson County program.

At Smart Products, our valves are fully customizable in 9+ plastic body materials, including Polycarbonate. Especially popular in the medical industry, Polycarbonate features a biocompatible USP Class VI compatibility rating. This plastic is also ideal for high impact, high temperature applications and has a good chemical resistance with alcohols and diluted acids.
